To the ATHEIST comes this powerful opening statement from King David in Psalms 19 - "The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known." And, he's right!  How can you look up into the night sky, especially when you're in a place like I was one day - Eau Claire, Wisconsin - where the city lights don't diffuse the heavens and see literally millions of stars and say, "There is no God."  Only a fool could say that!

To the NON-BIBLE READER comes a powerful set of statements that reveal the powerful impact that God's Word can have on us when we study it:
   -  reviving the soul
   -  making simple people wise
   -  bringing joy to the heart
   -  giving insight for living a GREAT life!

And why is God's Word so powerful?  David answers that as well:
   -  It's perfect in every way
   -  You can trust what it says
   -  It's never going away...it will last forever
   -  It offers a fair look at God, His ways, and tells us how to be fair in everything we do
   -  The sweetness of its impact to the soul is sweeter than honey dripping from the honey comb
   -  AND, IT'S A GREAT REWARD TO THOSE WHO READ IT!!!!

I love how King David shows his tremendous faith in God in Psalms 20 where he says, "Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God." To a king, having a POWERFUL ARMY was the center of pride and security. What about you?  What is your center of pride and security?  Is it your job?  Is it your skills and talents?  Is it in your business prowess?  Listen, all of that can fail at any time.  Have a stroke, and it's gone!  Our total trust should not be in our money, ourselves, our jobs, or our spouse, because ALL of these things are subject to change at ANY moment.  The only One not subject to change is God!  Only He can truly be your source of income, strength, security, and pride!

In Psalms 21 comes a very powerful statement!  David said he shouted for joy in the Lord because, "You have given him (David) his heart's desire; you have withheld nothing he requested." As David took a good hard look at his life, God had blessed him greatly. In fact, so much so that David basically said, "Wow...God you've given me everything I've ask for!"

Now, don't misunderstand what David was saying!  There were certainly things he prayed for - such as when his son with Bathsheba was dying and finally died after many days of fasting and prayer - that didn't get answered. However, overall, David was so delighted in the MANY things God did do for him that it seemed as though God was giving him everything he granted.  This is probably true in your life as well, if you're living for the Lord. God doesn't give us ALL that we ask of Him because of reasons only known to Him. However, you have to admit, He's been pretty good in meeting your needs and in blessing your life!
